Originally designed for a design competition for a pavilion for Nordic log house manufacturers. This super low budget competition was open for a very short time and the brief was full of challenges. Our aim shifted and the design evolved rather than trying to win the bid but for completing as a realistic project which has a better representation of Nordic timber industries and materialities. The upper facade is covered in sliced wood from controlled felling randomly arranged. The lower facade is made of untreated birch logs. This open-plan pavilion has skylights to let the natural light into the display areas while keeping water off. The light weight roofing has pot plants to keep the building green and cool under the summer sun. It has economical OSB panels as main wall elements bolted together to the main columns to restrict movements.
