The client wanted a large family house in South of Estonia.
The client had a very specific requirements on privacy, the views to the adjacent state forest, size of children's bedrooms, sauna and bathrooms, hobby garage and so on. The initial approach was to prevent the neighbours from looking into the living space while receiving plenty of daylight even in winter months.
The massive solar wall placed behind the large south-facing windows accommodates the stairs to allow vertical circulation of heated air while protecting the privacy. The northern side has large picture frame windows which lets the occupant enjoy the uninterrupted view towards the state forest.
Generally speaking, the house is air-tight and mechanically ventilated in order to offer the maximum thermal comfort for the low energy costs.
